Times have changed, and today's young women face new challenges. Combining old feminine values with professional independence requires a more diverse educational background. The future young women of America will have to fulfill many new roles in a changing and socially complex society. Therefore, she must be prepared to work hard and smart, in order to become an integral part of tomorrow's future. Miss Miami Tropic Scholarship Beauty Pageant and its sponsors recognize the importance of graceful, well educated, and career oriented young women. Hence, we have created this Pageant, to promote and advance this diverse educational process.
Our Staff
Rosario Ramirez-Martinez
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Her dance and art career started at the age of three when she attended the Star Time School of dance in New York. She continued with the Abbot Dance School also in New York. After moving to Florida she continued her studies with Martha Grahams' disciple Phylls Kapp at her dance studio in Coral Gables. Rose also studied with Ron Daniels and Martha Maher. During this time she auditioned for shows like Ted Mack at NBC and was a finalist at the Hialeah Miami Springs beauty contest for the Miss America Pageant in 1967.
It was at this time that her professional career started when she became a dance teacher for the Dade County Schools where she has taught in more than 10 school for the past 36 years.
She is now a teacher at Henry H. Filer Middle School. Her professional career has allowed her to work with many contestants and pageant organizations; training and preparing contestants for their talent and presentation performances in beauty and modeling shows. She adds to her experience complete production of more than 50 public and private shows and recitals with groups from 25 to 100.
Miss rose has received an award for community education in May 2008 for 41 years of teaching ballet and jazz.
Desiree Sardo
DIRECTOR-CHOREOGRAPHER
Desiree began her formal dance training with her mother Rosario Ramirez Martinez at Henry Filer Middle School and at Broadway Dance Center in New York. She is currently dancing at Djoniba Drum and Dance Center in New York under Michelle Bastos. She has a Bachelors degree in Dance Education from Florida International University. Desiree is now teaching dance at Henry Filer Middle School where her cheer and dance team are rated number one in the nation. She is the director of Dance for our Future a performance showcase designed to raise money for inner city dance. Desiree graduated in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida International University.
